ABOUT EVAN
Yoga first entered into my life through my career in dance. After facing several injuries, I first learned about yoga as a form of physical therapy and preventative care. Through a consistent practice of yoga and meditation I began to deepen my understanding of the relationship between body and mind. This shifted my perspective on the healing process and has allowed me to guide others with a more holistic approach.
In 2008 I began teaching in my hometown of Berkeley, California. Working with such a diverse community set the tone for my journey as a teacher and has enabled me to adapt to the needs of the individual. In 2010 my practice brought me to New York City. I spent the next four years building an eclectic clientele, discovering new teaching methods, and participating in a several workshops focused in anatomy and yoga therapy. My adventure continued in 2014 when I moved to North Carolina to further my studies in Yoga Therapy with Asheville Yoga Center. This training refined my skills as a teacher and gave me more tools to assist a broader range of conditions.
After receiving my certification in Advanced Yoga Therapy I developed a Wellness and Education Program for Athletes using Yoga Therapy as the foundation. In 2016 I began teaching my program and conducting ongoing research as an adjunct professor at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. In 2018 I presented my research to the Health Wellness and Society Research Network International Conference in London, England and was inspired to further my studies and exploration in the field. In pursuit of expanding my education I have now relocated to Boston, MA where I currently offer private sessions, corporate group classes, and community workshops.

Sessions can be made available in person (masked until further notice), via zoom, or an outdoor space where we can maintain proper social distancing. Each session is 1hr and includes a check in, meditation, breath work, and a movement practice that is curated to meet your individual needs.
The first session is 90min where we can discuss your goals and answer any initial questions you may have. This session will also include a postural and Ayurvedic assessment that will inform how we approach your practice. After the first session I will follow up with a review of the exercises and specific modifications we explored as well as any Ayurvedic suggestions.

Community Feedback
"Evan is a fantastic instructor and communicator. He is able to explain postures in a way that is easy to understand and relate to. He also works very hard to customize lessons to meet the specific needs and limitations of his students. I was impressed by his ability to assess my capabilities and recommend specific stretches and supplementary exercises that accelerated my improvement and helped me manage a pre-existing lower back herniation." ~ Harold S. |
"Evan translates movement with intelligence. His knowledge of the body is evident in the way he conducts a class. Whether in his private sessions or group classes, Evan’s attention to detail is tailored to the expression of each pose. It is because of teachers like Evan Marsh, I have embarked on a yoga journey of my own. His classes are full of life. I appreciate the attention and care he weaves into his practice. It allows my mind to listen to my body, and to better understand my own approach to the practice. He encourages me to ask why, and to learn from myself. Thank you for showing me the power of yoga beyond sweat." ~ Jacqueline D. |
"Meet my friend Evan Marsh. Over our 12 year friendship I have witnessed his practice deepen and career expand into what I like to call him - 'The Corporate Yogi'. Evan has transformed lunch hours and increased productivity in fashion forward Manhattan high rises, and now the tech savvy Silicon Valley campuses. He focuses on injury prevention and rehabilitation striving to aid his students in embodying a heathy and sustainable practice to use on and off the mat."

"As an avid runner recovering from knee surgery, I was really down about not being able to run. I decided to try out yoga, but was uncertain that it would be as fulfilling as running. I was relieved and surprised to discover that it was! Evan helped me feel alive again after nearly a month without exercise! He took the time to research the surgical procedure I had, and created a mix of yoga and Pilates exercises that not only gave me a great workout, but was also specifically designed to increase my post-surgery mobility. Evan gives clear, patient instruction and created a calm, fun, and relaxing environment. He helped me listen to my body to make sure I understood everything so that I could do the workout on my own. I highly recommend Evan to all especially for people who are recovering from surgery. He will take great care of you!" ~ Amy G. |
